Lori is amazing by its variety of oak, beech, and pine trees. Many folk events are being organized in Dsegh village, where Armenia’s most popular writerHovhannes Tumanyan (poem “Anush” and many more) was born. Armenia’s second largest city Vanadzor is the capital of Lori. Lori it is exceptional by its people of unsophisticated and trusting character. “Are you loretsi?” means “what childlike things are you saying”?

Haghpat Monastery, also known as Haghpatavank, is a medieval Armenian monastery complex in Haghpat, Armenia. The monastery was founded by Queen Khosrovanuysh, wife of the Bagratid king Ashot III, probably in 976
This is the time the church got its current form of a pink felsite basilica with three naves, the two side naves being narrow. At the northern (not preserved anymore) and southern side there are unusual arcaded cloisters and the west cloister has a blind wall with an arched entrance in the middle. The roof is barrel vaulted. Four columns support the rib vaulted tambour and there are two more columns at the western part of the church
The name Sanahin literally translates from Armenian as ``this one is older than that one``, presumably representing a claim to having an older monastery than the neighbouring Haghpat Monastery. The two villages and their monasteries are similar in many ways, and lie in plain view of each other on a dissected plateau formation, separated by a deep ``crack`` formed by a small river flowing into the Debed river.
The monastery is currently inactive. The fortress played a major role in protecting the north-western regions of Armenia (Gugark) and is among the most well preserved of all in modern Armenia. The main church at the compound is famous for its highly artistic frescoes, which cover the inside walls, the partitions, and the bearings of the building. The modern name of Akhtala was first recorded in a royal decree of 1438.
